John Bernard Boente, 78, of Red Bud, passed away on Nov 5,2025. He was born Feb 25, 1947, in Carlinville, Illinois to the late Norman Boente and Betty (Lewis) Bates .
He is survived by: his spouse of 58 years: Linda (Walls) Boente; daughters: Kim (David) Snyder and Kristy (Luke) Edler; grandchildren: Jessica (Brandon) Nehrt, Joshua (Monica) Snyder, Konnor Stellhorn, and Lexy Edler; five great-grandchildren: Micah Snyder, Jameson Nehrt, Bodie Nehrt, Mia Snyder and Maya Snyder; along with other relatives and friends.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cherished his time with family. John and Linda were together starting in his fifth grade year and her fourth grade year. They moved to Ruma, IL from Virden, IL in 1979, when John accepted a position as Hoisting Engineer for Peabody Coal Company in Marissa, Illinois. John was a member of a multi state Mine Rescue Team for numerous years. After an injury sustained to his leg in the mine, he drove a dump truck for Roger's Redi Mix, Ruma, until he retired.
John was an avid golfer until diagnosed with vascular dementia. He was a member of North County Country Club in Red Bud and helped raise funds to build the current club house. He w a s also a member of Six Lakes Country Club in North Fort Meyers, FL.
John's wishes were to be cremated with a private gathering of immediate family only.
